There is the house cat who spends the night outside, the neighbour's cat who hides under your garden shed, and the stray you have been feeding since autumn. That is what Firmin is made for. Its insulated walls send the cat's body heat back to it, its roof overhangs so the rain falls to the side, and its legs keep it away from the cold, damp ground.
Four layers in every wall. Thick 600D Oxford fabric on the outside, a waterproof coating, a layer of insulating wadding and, inside, an aluminium lining that reflects the cat's warmth. No plug: the shelter simply keeps the cat's own heat.
An entrance that blocks the wind. A clear flap keeps the warmth inside while letting the cat look out before stepping out. In very cold weather, the outer flap unrolls and closes the entrance; the rest of the time it stays rolled up above the door.
Off the cold ground. The shelter sits on a frame with legs: the floor never touches wet soil, snow or icy concrete.
An overhanging roof. Its slope lets rain and snow slide off and fall beside the walls instead of running over the entrance.
Anchored to the ground. Two stakes are included to fix it into the lawn or soil: it stays put on windy days.
Assembled in minutes, no tools. It goes together with hook-and-loop fasteners and a zip. Out of season it comes apart and stores flat; a handle on the roof makes it easy to move.

L'intérieur est tapissé d'aluminium, posé sur une couche de ouate isolante. La chaleur que le chat dégage ne traverse pas les parois : elle lui revient. Le rabat transparent de l'entrée la garde à l'intérieur, sans le priver de la vue sur dehors.
Le tissu Oxford 600D est enduit pour être imperméable, et le toit en pente déborde des parois : l'eau tombe à côté, pas sur l'entrée.
Le cadre à pieds garde le fond loin du sol mouillé ou gelé, la première source de froid pour un chat couché. Deux piquets le fixent au sol pour qu'il ne bouge pas par grand vent.
Une ouverture de 22 × 18 cm : assez large pour un chat adulte, assez petite pour garder la chaleur. Il entre, se retourne et s'installe sans se sentir enfermé.
