The reserve takes dry kibble as well as kibble mixes. Nothing to program, nothing to plug in: as soon as the bowl empties, gravity brings down the next portion. Designed for dry food only — wet food and pâté stick and block the flow.
It's the classic flaw of gravity feeders: kibble forms a bridge above an opening that's too narrow, and the bowl stays empty while the reserve is full. Here the opening is wide, and the kibble flows down freely.
A transparent window runs the full height of the reserve. A quick glance as you walk past tells you whether there's enough for the weekend — no need to lift the lid.
On the water side, a removable perforated disc sits at the bottom of the bowl. It's the part that gets dirty fastest in this type of device: here you lift it out by hand and rinse it under the tap, without taking anything else apart.
The bowls pivot on the base. Put them side by side to save space against a wall, or back to back so two pets can eat at the same time without getting in each other's way.
